灾情发生后，当地迅速启动应急处置机制：日喀则市第一时间启动抗震救灾一级应急响应，成立前线指挥专班；西藏自治区同步启动地震二级应急响应，后续根据灾情规模升级为一级应急响应，各级领导赶赴震区现场统筹调度救援工作。
一方有难，八方支援。社会各界迅速向灾区伸出援手，四川大学华西医院紧急组建多学科医疗专家组，搭乘航班奔赴高原灾区，参与重症伤员抢救、创伤救治指导工作。
